What Is Egos Anonymous?

Egos Anonymous is a program of recovery for people who are exhausted from trying to run their lives through self-will. It is for those of us who feel responsible for everything—our outcomes, our relationships, our image, and our sense of safety—and have found that this way of living no longer works.

This program is not about fixing our personalities or getting rid of our ego. The ego is not the enemy. It helped many of us survive. The problem comes when we ask it to be in charge of everything. Egos Anonymous offers a way to let go of that burden.

We come together to practice honesty, listening, and willingness. We learn to notice where the need to control, explain, or be right has taken over, and we practice stepping back from it. Over time, we discover that we do not have to be the source of our own stability or worth.

Egos Anonymous is a spiritual program, but it is not tied to any religion. Members are free to understand God, Reality, or a power greater than themselves in their own way. What matters is the willingness to trust something beyond our own thinking and effort.

Recovery in this program is not about dramatic change. It happens gradually, through attention and shared experience. We learn to live with less defense and more openness. We find connection with others who understand what it’s like to carry too much.

Egos Anonymous does not offer answers to every problem. What it offers is a way to stop doing life alone, and a path toward living with less fear, less control, and more trust.
