“I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it.”

— Alice Walker, The Color Purple

Self-will can make life feel urgent. There is always something to manage, something to secure, something to correct. In that posture, the world becomes a problem to solve rather than something to receive. We can move quickly, overlook what is quietly given.

Noticing is different from striving. It does not require improvement or explanation. It asks only that we be present long enough to see what is already here. A field. A color. A face. A breath. When we stop managing long enough to notice, something in us softens. We are no longer separate from life—we are participating in it.

Devotion may begin this simply. Not with effort, but with attention. Not by earning grace, but by recognizing it.

Egos Anonymous is offered in an experimental spirit—an invitation to see whether there’s interest in a shared way of working with ego, self-will, and control. The language, structure, and practices are still forming and are meant to grow through lived experience.

This is a soft launch. The hope is to eventually gather a year of reflections into a book, but for now they’re simply being shared—one day at a time—to see what resonates.

If something feels useful, confusing, incomplete, or off, feedback is welcome and genuinely appreciated. This work is meant to be shaped together.
