"There are a thousand thousand reasons to live this life, every one of them sufficient."

— Marilynne Robinson, Gilead

These words are spoken by a dying man writing to his young son—someone who knows he won't be there to see much of what comes next. In that context, they are not optimism. They are something quieter and more hard-won. A recognition, arrived at slowly, that existence itself carries a kind of sufficiency that doesn't depend on outcomes.

Self-will can require that life earn its worth—that things resolve satisfactorily, offer enough in return for the effort spent. This image suggests something different. Not that everything is fine, but that the reasons to stay present, to remain engaged with this life, may be more numerous than fear allows us to see. Not as affirmation, but as a kind of steady witness.

Egos Anonymous is offered in an experimental spirit—an invitation to see whether there’s interest in a shared way of working with ego, self-will, and control. The language, structure, and practices are still forming and are meant to grow through lived experience.

This is a soft launch. The hope is to eventually gather a year of reflections into a book, but for now they’re simply being shared—one day at a time—to see what resonates.

If something feels useful, confusing, incomplete, or off, feedback is welcome and genuinely appreciated. This work is meant to be shaped together.
