"In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's mind there are few."

— Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind

The ego often prizes expertise. Knowing things, understanding what to expect, not being caught off guard—these can feel like safety. Over time, we may bring that same posture to our inner lives, arriving at familiar situations already certain of what we will find. The knowing forecloses the looking.

Beginner's mind is not ignorance. It is a willingness to let experience be what it actually is rather than what we have already decided about it. A conversation, a morning, a feeling we have had before—all of these may hold something not yet seen, if the certainty softens just enough to let it through.

Egos Anonymous is offered in an experimental spirit—an invitation to see whether there’s interest in a shared way of working with ego, self-will, and control. The language, structure, and practices are still forming and are meant to grow through lived experience.

This is a soft launch. The hope is to eventually gather a year of reflections into a book, but for now they’re simply being shared—one day at a time—to see what resonates.

If something feels useful, confusing, incomplete, or off, feedback is welcome and genuinely appreciated. This work is meant to be shaped together.
