Love isn't something we manufacture. It's already here, underneath everything, the way awareness itself is already here. We're not separate from it, trying to work our way toward it. We're made of it. Some traditions just call it loving awareness—love as the ground we're standing on, not a mood that visits occasionally.

So why does hooks talk about action, about choice? Because most of the time we're not standing on that ground. We're up in our heads, managing, defending, waiting to feel something before we'll act on it. The choosing she's pointing to isn't building love from scratch. It's just getting out of the way of what's already there.

That's the whole thing, really. The love doesn't need to be earned or generated. It needs to be let through. Every time we choose it—this moment, this person, right now—we're not creating something new. We're just remembering what we already are.
